Bowl Half Full 2025 Findings

Icelandic Provisions, the skyr brand that strengthens mind and body to help you persevere with optimism come what may, has released the second edition of its annual report, "Bowl Half Full: A Report on Optimism, Nutrition & Wellness in 2025". Conducted in partnership with Talker Research, the report explores what fuels a good day, from food to mindset, and offers a state-by-state snapshot at who's having the most amount of good days.

When it comes to what makes a day "good," Americans say it starts in the kitchen. According to the 2025 report, which surveyed 5,000 Americans across all 50 states, most people know by 8:30 a.m. whether it's going to be a good day and nearly a quarter (24%) say they eat yogurt or skyr on days they feel their best.

While the National Optimism Index dipped slightly to 6.5 from 6.7*, this year's report highlights how everyday habits, especially what we eat, help Americans see life bowl half full. Banana and caramel, two of the country's top mood-boosting flavors, also happen to be the stars of Icelandic Provisions' new Salted Caramel & Banana skyr, on shelves now. Optimism, it turns out, often starts with what's in your bowl. See what else fuels a good day and which states are having the most good days per year below:

*The Optimism Barometer Index* finds an overall optimism rating based on respondent's answers to 10 metrics. These questions about feelings and perceptions are each evaluated on a simple pass/fail system, resulting in a score of 0 to 10 for each respondent; to reach the overall rating (for example, by state), scores were averaged together to provide a score of that state's optimism.
